Moir Gardens and Plantation Garden Restaurant work together and are located side by side. The restaurant takes bookings and manages weddings in the garden. Moir Gardens at Kiahuna is operated by the Outrigger Hotel.
Within the beautifully restored Kiahuna Plantation you will find the stunning Moir Gardens , once part of the oldest sugar plantation in Hawai’i . Built in the style of old plantation structures, Moir Gardens comprise thirty-five acres of exotic plants and trees. Adjacent to the famous Plantation Gardens Restaurant, the site has several koi ponds, coconut trees, kou trees, a cactus garden, bromeliads, and an extensive collection of rare orchids—all of which provide a romantic setting. Couples can enjoy the pleasant subtlety of a small garden wedding or delight in the festivities of a large wedding and reception with as many as three hundred guests. Set along sweeping sandy beaches, and showcasing the intricate details of historic manor-house architecture, this garden setting provides a wonderful location for any wedding, big or small.
LOCATION DETAILS: The garden and restaurant together have one ceremony site located carefully in front of a koi pond surrounded by an orchid garden and cactus garden. The bride can make a grand entrance along the winding pathways or down a staircase from the Plantation Gardens Restaurant. The privacy is enhanced by fragrant breezes smelling of the surrounding plumeria flowers. Only acoustical music is allowed (no amplified music). The restaurant is an authentic plantation-style house that maintains the Hawaiian ancestry in its décor and menu. The restaurant is open from 5:30 p.m., only for dinner, but private-party luncheons can be arranged. Wedding cakes can be ordered through the restaurant. There are restrooms and ample parking available. The beach is a three-minute walk down a paved pathway.
GROUNDS FEES: The site fee is $100, and you can marry on the grounds only if you have your reception at the restaurant. The south lanai can be reserved for exclusive use (up to a maximum of sixty people), as can the entire restaurant. The venue price depends on the season.
